Dear children:

Sorry I couldn't upload homework before. I had some trouble with the Internet.

What you have to do is:

  • Read the topic of Health.
  • Find a trasure hunt on the blog. It's on old entries, 18th  December 2012. Answer the questions in your copybook.
  • Do a piece of work about one section of the topic, whatever you think it's interestincg. You decide the type of work you want to do.

  • Tell what endocrine glands are and what hormones are.
  • Make a chart with glands, the hormones they secrete and their task.
  • Recognise the importance of mantaining a safe distance.
  • Match diagrams about mantaining distances with scenarios like the ones on page 39.

Piece of work about ecosystems year 5

You are going to write a piece of work about Ecosystems.
Remember that an ecosystem consists or LIVING THINGS and THEIR ENVIRONMENT.
LIVING THINGS: flora and fauna ENVIRONMENT: soil, climate, light.
INTERACT
Sometimes the living things can change their environment. This is what we humans are doing to the environment when we pollute the air and our rivers.
Other times the environment can change the living things around; most plants can’t live in the desert.
YOUR TASK:
* You will have to write about four environments:
1- A Natural Park /Preserve in Castille and León
2- A Natural Park or Preserve in Cantabria, Asturias or Galicia.
3- An aquatic environment of fresh water in the province of Zamora.
4- An aquatic environment of sea water in the seas of the Spanish coasts.
YOU MUST:
* Say where this ecosystem is.
* Talk about the fauna (4 animals) and the flora ( min 2)
* Talk about the climate: temperatures and precipitation.
* Write minimum 1 sentence saying how the environment there can affect the living things and the other way round.(how living things can affect the environment)
* Draw a food chain for each environment.. Follow this example.

BRAIN HOMEWORK

HOMEWORK

  • Google:  Enchanted learning.com brain diagram to label.
Label the diagram of the brain in capital letters and write down the functions of each part. E.G: CEREBELLUM: balance, movement.

  • Neurons are the principal  cells in the nervous system.
Read the paragraph about neurons on page 32 of your book. Make a neuron out of plasticine . Take a picture. Label the neuron and include it in a page size factfile.
