SPACE WORDS

NEW WORDS FOR MONDAY TEST

ARTIFICIAL SATELLITES: Man-made objects designed to orbit the Earth. They help us to forecast the weather, to transmit television and mobile signals, to navigate aero planes and ships.
ROCKET: Space vehicle used to launch satellites into space. When the rocket fuel is used up, the rocket is separated from the satellite and falls into the sea.
YURI GAGARIN: The first man to travel into outer space in 1961.
NEIL ARMSTRONG: the first human being to set foot on the Moon.
APOLLO 11: Spacecraft that landed on the Moon in 1969
SPACE SHUTTLES: Space vehicles that can take off and land like aero planes. Men can travel inside.
SPACE PROBES: Spaceships designed to explore the far reaches of the Universe. Robots and computers operate them but there is no human crew. They transmit photographs and detailed information about the Earth.

SPACE STATIONS: Large artificial satellites made to study space and carry out scientific experiments.
