Year 6 have been doing tne nervous system.

They imagined what their life would be like if they were blind. These are some of the autobiographies that they wrote.

ALBA MADRIGAL
I was born the 1st of June in the year 2001. So now I’m 11 years old.

My  life was so happy in my childhood… I played with my friends, I did my homework... but one day in my house there was a fire and I inhaled so much carbon dioxide that I stopped seeing  with my right eye. I learned to continue with my normal life, as normal as my life can be without an eye, but of course that’s not all. A few years later I was in my family car with my mum and my dad and we  had an accident with a big wild boar and I cannot see more of with  left eye so I went completely blind. My life after that was full of accidents like for example the one the day after getting completely blind: I was holding hands with my father when I stumbled with a rock that was in the middle of my way, my father unsuccessfully tried to help me to avoid but I can’t couldn’t so I broke my wrist and I was 3 days in  hospital, then after some months I was with my mum and I fell over, that time nothing happened to me but I had to decide if I wanted a dog or a cane and I have always loved dogs so I decided that I wanted a dog, even with the dog I have some accidents too but they were a lot less than without  Tara (that’s the name I put gave it)

Now I am still having some accidents but it has no comparing point nothing to do with the past so I’m a bit happier now but my  life is not complete without my eyes.

this  were my eyes before, they were beautiful

And this is now my eyes so they’re a bit different, aren’t they?

BLINDNESS

My name is ANDREA ALFONSO FERNANDEZ. I WAS BORN IN SPAIN IN THE 8TH OF NOVEMBER.

I am very good at swimming and I love to swim and to paint. One day I had a swimming competition and a paint competition on the same day, so I decided to go swimming.

When I finished the competition I was very sad because my mum couldn’t go.

Then I went to see the painting competition and I went to the Art room. I wanted to get a jar of paint that it was atop. I thought that it was paint but it really was  acid, so when I got it, I slipped and it got into my eyes. I was very poorly because it hurt a lot and when I went to look at myself in the mirror I saw all black, I couldn’t see anything. I shouted and I screamed and two hours later a man came and said: What happened to you? I said: I wanted to get the jar of paint but I slipped and it got into my eyes. ´What! That (jar is not of paint is of acid) It is not a paint jar, it is an acid jar, I have it there because I put the acid on the doors because the termites bite the wood’.

‘I can´t see anything’ I said ´’Now you are blind’

The man took me home but I am very sad because I can´t swim or paint any more.

The people who helped me was my family but who helped me the most  was my dog Sasha.

I have lots of accident in the street because I fall all the time.

Now I live with my dad and mum and I manage better because I have my dog.

DANIEL MARTÍN

Hello,  I’m Daniel a blind person. I was born in Zamora in 1996.

I was born blind.

My mother helps me to interact with the world; I changed school in 2.000 because the other boys mocked me. Many things changed in the new school like the order in school, we all had to be in the same place after moving about. Blind people use special writing machines to write and we also have a special alphabet it is called Braille alphabet:

MY DAILY ROUTINE

I wake up and I take my cane to go to the kitchen and have breakfast, then I brush my teeth and comb my hair. My mother takes me to school and she also brings me back  home. In school things are like in other school the only difference is that we use special writing machines. After school I eat and I do homework, then I go to walk. Later on I have dinner and I go to bed.
