The benefits of space exploration

Read out this piece of thest and write down some of the benefits of space exploration.http://www.classzone.com/science_book/mls_grade7_FL/695_698.pdf

We are surrounded every day by technologies developed for space exploration. The artificial heart for example, resulted from experiments on the space shuttle and a partnership with renowned heart surgeon Dr. Michael Debakey. The hand held Jaws of Life used to save victims from car wrecks originated from the system used to separate the space shuttle from its booster rockets. Even the insulation that keeps our homes warm and energy efficient is based of the technology used to insulate the space shuttle.
These advances are found in our food, our building materials, medical procedures and the vehicles we drive. So the next time you wonder if it is a waste of time and money to explore space remember that it is actually an investment that improves the quality of our lives.

SPACE WORDS

NEW WORDS FOR MONDAY TEST

ARTIFICIAL SATELLITES: Man-made objects designed to orbit the Earth. They help us to forecast the weather, to transmit television and mobile signals, to navigate aero planes and ships.
ROCKET: Space vehicle used to launch satellites into space. When the rocket fuel is used up, the rocket is separated from the satellite and falls into the sea.
YURI GAGARIN: The first man to travel into outer space in 1961.
NEIL ARMSTRONG: the first human being to set foot on the Moon.
APOLLO 11: Spacecraft that landed on the Moon in 1969
SPACE SHUTTLES: Space vehicles that can take off and land like aero planes. Men can travel inside.
SPACE PROBES: Spaceships designed to explore the far reaches of the Universe. Robots and computers operate them but there is no human crew. They transmit photographs and detailed information about the Earth.

SPACE STATIONS: Large artificial satellites made to study space and carry out scientific experiments.
